Level One

Prerequisites

It is expected that all attendees have basic competency with foot drill, ceremony and protocol as per.  Chapters 1-3 of A-PD-201-000/PT-000.  Attendees must be currently employed as a member of their agency’s ceremonial unit or honour guard. This Course is open to any full time member of a Canadian Police Service or first responder agency.

Unit Member Course

This course is designed to offer a member of a Canadian emergency service Ceremonial Unit foundational training and experience with drill, ceremony and protocol for formal parades, ceremonies and funerals. This course is evaluated on attendance only. Feedback will be given throughout training to enhance performance.

Level Two

Prerequisites

It is expected that all attendees have advanced understanding and skill with foot, rifle, flag and sword drill, ceremony and protocol and are currently employed as a supervisor or trainer of their agency’s ceremonial unit or honour guard. Completion of the Level One course is strongly recommended. After-hours course work should be expected. This course is open to any full time member of a Canadian Police Service or first responder agency.

Unit Commander Course

This course is designed for the trainer supervisor or commander of a Canadian emergency service Ceremonial Unit. It provides commander or instructor level training and experience with drill, ceremony and protocol for formal parades, ceremonies and funerals.  Course members are evaluated and given feedback throughout, and will be assigned a final pass/ fail grade.
